Ray Tomaszewski
Membership Committee Chairman
International Clubmakers Guild
Question to all members. What is a membership in The ICG worth?
I can't say for everybody but for me it means certification for the skills I have in clubmaking, resources for components and techniques, a network of the finest clubmakers in the industry today, to have access to the best custom clubs and assembly procedures possible. For a small fee we have an organization which will help not only to grow my business but also to enhance my business, In terms of shop locator, on line forums, website design, shop rates, and connection to sponsors who will bring more personal contact with clubmakers to promote not only their business but also the clubmaker. And now we have a newsletter for all members to stay informed. Regional Chapters help to stay in touch locally with clubmakers. I have attended the Upper Midwest Regional meeting several times. We played golf, went out to dinner, shared ideas, and met with some of our sponsors in the seminars they put on for our benefit. Last year we had a presence at the PGA Show in Orlando. Seminars were presented by our sponsors and ideas were shared by clubmakers who attended; a great effort to unite all clubmakers who attended. There are plans to have an even bigger presence this year with the ICG Connection Center. What is my obligation to the ICG as a member?
It is my belief that to truly protect and get total value for my investment in membership fees I must get involved. We need to log on and participate in the forums, volunteer and get involved in committees, and help create and attend regional meetings. We will be at the PGA Show again this year and the more members we have attend the bigger and better our organization works and looks in the industry. Most organizations are run by the 20/80 rule. That's 20% of the members make the decisions for the whole group and the other 80% complain and don't do anything about it. Service is the foundation of any successful organization, we must be involved.
This is a letter to all members and non members to either get more involved or to join one of the best groups of professional clubmakers in the world.
