Date: Saturday Sept 24th and Sunday Sept 25th 2011
Format: I have reserved tee times at Thunderbird Hills South Golf Course for 1PM. A chance to renew some friendships on the Golf Course and show off the latest clubs in each other’s bag. I have contacted a local Barbecue Pit Boss and he will have a great dinner for us at my shop and home after golf. Sunday’s meeting will be held at a local catering hall at 9am, and end about 1pm.
Agenda: We have a list of guest speakers this Fall that should be of interest, I'm sure the clubmakers will be making their reservations. The following are the speakers: Jeff Summitt, from Heriko Golf who always has a wealth of technical information that help all clubmakers; I have contacted a computer web site designer that will talk about Social Media and how it will enhance your business; GolfWorks will send a representative to do a technical talk; and I am trying to get Chuck Mooney from Golfin Colors to explain his powder coating process for refinishing clubs and shafts.
Day Before; Motel & Dinner Information: Keeping with the Spring format with golf on Sat and dinner Sat evening. I have tee times for 5 foursomes at Thunderbird Hills South, a nice course not too long and nice greens . Dinner will be a barbecue at my place after golf, it should give us time to talk and exchange clubmaking ideas in a relaxed setting.
Based on that, the following motel information is what I was able to come up with for 9/24/2011:
The two motels in Elyria, Ohio seems to have the best rates .
- Red Roof Inn 621 Midway Blvd Elyria Ohio, 440-324-4444.Room Rate $58.49 for a room with one queen size bed or a room with two beds. Cold breakfast included.
- Best Western 636 Griswold Rd Elyria Ohio Phone 440-324-5050. Room rate $79.95 with two queen size beds or 1 King size bed.
You are more than welcome to check around for some better rates but the above is what we came up with. Cold Breakfast included.
Fees & Raffle: In the past, with the Upper Mid-West Regional meetings, we collect a small fee to cover lunches and other various expenses. But we also always have a good raffle so the clubmakers will usually go home with some nice gifts, which will more than off-set the fee.
Feedback: Please let me know if you will be attending so we can make a decision on the amount of Ribs and chicken we will need for the Saturday night dinner, plan for the lunches on Sunday and give the staff at Thunderbird Hills a heads-up on how many want to play golf Saturday afternoon.
